Seven artistic groups will be part of the Chile National Day celebration at the Expo Osaka 2025
Congress, Mahani Teave, Banda Conmoción, Jean Paul Olhaberry, Bafona, Karcocha, the drummer performers Olga Carrasco and Carlos Aravena, and the organ grinder, Camilo Cárdenas, will be part of the cultural program of Chile at the Universal Exhibition, on May 12th.
The upcoming May 12th will be Chile Day at Expo Osaka 2025. National days at World Expos are celebrations to honor the presence of countries and international organizations at the Expo. And Chile will be unveiling a comprehensive cultural, artistic, and commercial program.
The National Day of Chile will have a broad public-private delegation - led by President Gabriel Boric - and a line-up of national artists seeking to showcase the existing artistic diversity in the country to Japanese and international audiences.
The selection of the cultural delegation for this day was articulated by ProChile through a consultative process with the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage (MINCAP) and the Division of Cultures, Arts, Heritage and Public Diplomacy (DIRAC), selecting seven artistic groups: the historic musical ensemble Congreso; the pianist from Rapa Nui, Mahani Teave; the artistic collective Banda Conmoción, the award-winning illusionist Jean Paul Olhaberry, the National Folkloric Ballet of Chile (Bafona), the street artist Karcocha, the chinchineros Olga Carrasco and Carlos Aravena, and Camilo Cárdenas, organillero.

The Minister of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, Carolina Arredondo, comments that "Chilean culture is expressed in multiple languages, and on this National Day we want to share this richness with the world. This artistic delegation is a living example of how our identity is built from tradition, innovation and dialogue with other cultures. As a Ministry, we understand that the internationalization of our artistic expressions not only makes national talent visible, but also strengthens the links between peoples and projects an image of Chile being creative, diverse, and in constant motion ".
"The National Day of Chile is one of the iconic activities that our country has at the Expo Osaka 2025, where there will be various activities and presentations that will highlight the richness and cultural diversity of Chile. With the selection of artists, we wanted to represent our traditional roots with groups such as Congreso, Mahani Teave or Bafona, but also the diversity that Chile has with significant talents like Jean Paul Olhaberry, Karcocha or Banda Conmoción, who have rehearsed their performance with Olga Carrasco, Carlos Aravena and Camilo Cárdenas. We believe that this delegation that will represent us in Osaka is a faithful expression of Chile at the Expo: a mix between tradition and modernity," says the General Commissioner of Chile for Expo Osaka 2025, Paulina Nazal.

Meanwhile, the General Director of ProChile, Ignacio Fernández, comments that "ProChile has constantly supported the creative industries in their internationalization, always in coordination with organizations such as MINCAP and DIRAC. To Japan and to the world, we not only export wine, salmon, and other products, but also services linked to creative industries, such as audiovisual, publishing, and even musical services. We want to enhance that more people know that, from the end of the world, there are talents that can resonate with global audiences and also collaborate with the positioning of the Chilean brand abroad".
