Student-led entrepreneurship community Boost Turku is set to embark on a two-week excursion to Japan from November 22 to December 6, bringing a delegation of 16 board members, volunteers, and selected students to Tokyo and Osaka.
The initiative aims to immerse Finnish students in Japan’s fast-growing startup ecosystem while providing first-hand experience of Eastern business culture. Participants will meet local companies, attend events, and connect with student communities—returning not only with new knowledge and international contacts, but also with cultural experiences unique to Japan.
What are the requirements?
If you’re interested in exploring and immersing yourself in Japan’s tech ecosystem and development, make sure to apply before September 21.
Applications are open to students motivated to contribute not only as participants but also as co-organizers. The selection process will focus on motivation, goals, personality, and willingness to support the group.
The total cost per participant is estimated at €950, covering flights and accommodation. Boost is allocating €7,000 in funding to help reduce expenses. Additional costs such as food, drinks, and train tickets are not included.
"We want to provide students with an affordable opportunity to explore a different culture and discover new business opportunities abroad. It's also a bucket list place to visit for many young people", the organizers note.
From Tokyo to Osaka
The trip begins in Tokyo, where the delegation will stay in shared accommodations and engage with local startups, organizations, and events. Midway through the program, the group will travel by bullet train to Osaka, combining networking opportunities with cultural exchange alongside Japanese university students and entrepreneurial communities.
Boost emphasizes that the goal is to make international networking affordable and accessible for students. With Japan recognized as a major global market and a country increasingly focused on startup development, participants gain exposure to a promising ecosystem.
