The six-month Helsinki Blue Economy Studio will connect Finnish and international growth companies with investors, maritime industry players and research networks. Applications are already open, with the program set to begin in February 2027.
The first edition of the Finnish competition received 148 applications from 21 countries. SisuSemi secured 25,000 euros and will represent Turku at the Startup World Cup Grand Finale in Silicon Valley, while Sealevä received 10,000 euros to advance the development of biomaterials made from seaweed waste.
The six-month accelerator closed applications on August 31, with most submissions coming from Europe and North America.
The initiative driven by Corfo and Business Finland has projected funding of US$50 million and aims to accelerate co-innovation projects, technology transfer and clean technologies between both countries.
