Chilean Pisco expands in the UK through new Capel distribution deal
Pisco exports in the British market reached US$ 157 million in 2024, achieving the highest growth compared to 2023.
An exploratory journey by a British liquor distributor to the regions of Atacama and Coquimbo, at the beginning of this year, paved the way to seal a commercial agreement for the sale of Chilean pisco in the United Kingdom.
With the support of ProChile and Pisco Chile, the Toll House Spirits team visited pisco grape production areas to understand the category and strengthen relationships with national producers. In this context, approaches were made with the Agricola Pisquera Limited Cooperative (Capel), which was solidified through a new agreement to distribute Chilean pisco in the United Kingdom.
Among the products that will arrive in the British market are ready-to-drink Pisco Sour and premium products from Alto del Carmen.

In this regard, the Director of ProChile in the United Kingdom, Nicolás Poblete - who accompanied the delegation during their visit to the Atacama and Coquimbo regions -, pointed out that "this visit marks a significant step in strengthening trade ties between Chile and the UK, in a context where Chilean pisco exports to this market are increasing, and this agreement supports the growing presence of more pisco brands there".
In 2024, the value of pisco exports from Chile reached a record high, hitting US$ 5.3 million, and generating a 33% increase from 2023. "In the United Kingdom, pisco exports reached US$ 157 thousand, being the market that grew the most compared to the previous year, with a 119%. The quality of the grapes produced in northern Chile makes pisco an excellent ambassador for our country," added Poblete.
Regarding the agreement with the British distributor, the Export Manager of Capel, Alvaro González Fernández, stated that "we are thrilled to launch our range of Capel brands in the United Kingdom. It has been a pleasure working with the Toll House team to forge a solid agreement and plans for the British market, and we eagerly look forward to this excellent collaboration".
The co-founder of Toll House Spirits, Fiona Walsh, added that this new agreement marks the beginning of an exciting opportunity for the Pisco category within the trade sectors inside and outside the United Kingdom, and we are delighted to be designated as the trusted distributor of Capel in the UK.
