Hyvolution 2024: Unveil First Green Hydrogen Truck to Operate in Logistics
On the opening day of Hyvolution 2024, President Gabriel Boric highlighted the role of Corfo instruments in the development of green hydrogen in Chile.
In the opening day of the second version of the Hyvolution Chile fair, the first green hydrogen truck was introduced which will operate in the land transportation logistics sector, which was funded by Corfo for use and adoption of these technologies in the Chilean industry.
The Minister of Energy; the Executive Vice President of Corfo; along with executives from Walmart and Marval companies, were in charge of presenting the first truck operating with hydrogen fuel cells in Chile, a project that was awarded funding from Corfo's Technological Program for the Use and Adoption of H2V in the Chilean Industry.
The vehicle will be part of the retail company's fleet and will deliver land logistics services between the Valparaiso and Maule regions. Walmart Chile's CEO, Cristián Barrientos, detailed that the machine has an autonomy of 750 kilometers and a capacity to transport up to 49 tons.

Barrientos reported that the vehicle was finished being manufactured on June 30 of this year in the city of Foshan, China, and began its journey in July from Shanghai, arriving at 9:30 in the morning on the 8th in San Antonio.
"In Chile, a portfolio of innovative experiences around green hydrogen is beginning to develop. One of these cases is this green hydrogen truck that will be incorporated into Walmart Chile's logistics operations and is added to last year's technological adaptation project of forklifts with this clean energy. These initiatives generate knowledge and experience for Chile, strengthening our ecosystem of green hydrogen," said Minister Pardow.

GREEN HYDROGEN, A STATE POLICY
"The advancement of Green Hydrogen is a state policy. We are continuing something that began in the second government of President Bachelet, which was institutionalized by the government of President Piñera, and which today, in our government, we are consolidating," with these words, President Gabriel Boric highlighted the importance of this industry during the inaugural day of Hyvolution Chile.
The Head of State highlighted, on the occasion, the extensive toolkit of Corfo to support the development and consolidation of the H2V industry in Chile, both for export and internal consumption, and detailed some initiatives that the state promotion agency has financed in the last period, as part of the different managements carried forward under the coordination of the Green Hydrogen Industry Development Committee of Corfo.

In this regard, President Boric also highlighted that leaders and entrepreneurs from other countries ask him about the country's potential in terms of lithium, copper, and hydrogen, key elements for the global energy transition and for achieving carbon neutrality.
"The State has a tremendous job to do," stated the President, detailing that, in terms of permits, in the last year, the processing of maritime concessions dropped from an average of 44 months to 22 months. "I still believe that's too long," stated the country's highest authority.
He added that with Corfo, the Hydrogen sector has been boosted with $35 billion for projects such as green fertilizers, truck and bus conversion, production of green copper and the signing of agreements with the Government of Magallanes for the harmonious development of this industry in the area.
NATIONAL H2V STRATEGY
Meanwhile, in his presentation at the panel "Strategies to Realize Competitiveness in Chile", the Executive Vice President of Corfo, asserted that, "in Chile, we were pioneers in the development of this industry" and that "for the first time, there is a collective and consensus vision of getting involved in a productive sector that did not exist before, such as Green Hydrogen".
He recalled that our country has the first facility in the world to finance Hydrogen projects, nobody knew how to do it and now countries like India just implemented one that is an identical copy of the one made in Chile. Benavente said he is convinced that the country is doing well in the deployment of the National H2V Strategy.
