The 5 Chilean startups that made their presence known at Slush 2023
In conversation with Entreprenerd in 2023, startups explained their expectations and what it meant for them to be present at Slush.
In 2023 a delegation of 5 Chilean startups attended one of the biggest events in Europe, Slush, which is held every year in Helsinki, Finland.
The attendees were Atacama Scope, LabICT, MedibleGO, Recylink, and Wareclouds, who were selected after the call made by ProChile.
In conversation with Entreprenerd in 2023, the startups explained their expectations and what it meant for them to be present at Slush. Here we leave you their testimonies.
Rodrigo Malachias, CEO of Medible Go: 'We want to make a more equal world'.
During his visit to Slush in Helsinki in 2023, founder Rodrigo Malachias spoke with Entreprenerd about MedibleGo, a platform that uses AI and Machine Learning, aiming to assist and guide entrepreneurs in discovering more effective ways to reach their target audience.
The platform allows work with all types of industry, so they expect that by working with SMEs, they can generate three or four times more revenue than they naturally generate, without the support of MedibleGo.
Malachias explained that they also help entrepreneurs who only have an idea and don't know where to start. "We help them incubate, always from the perspective of creating products and services," he added.
We created this tool to support STEM education.
The Chilean startup was one of the 5 present at Slush with the support of ProChile in 2023, with the aim of showcasing their work, primarily focused on enabling children to explore the skies in a more realistic and dynamic way, along with providing global access to all parts of the sky.
"The main goal of our tour here in Europe is to gain more global visibility for Atacama Scope. We are a tech education company currently located in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile," commented its CEO to Entreprenerd.
"But primarily, one of our goals here in Finland is to be able to learn from one of the best places in the world in terms of education, and that is what I have come to observe," said María Paz.
Claudia Vicentelo, CEO of Lab ICT: "We were selected by the Nordic countries. We are focused towards Finland, Sweden and Denmark".
With the aim of enhancing the development of cities and the construction industry sector in Chile, Latin America and other areas, the Chilean startup Laboratory of Innovation, Cities and Technology (Lab ICT) was born. At Entreprenerd, we spoke with its CEO, Claudia Vicentelo, who was present at the last edition of Slush in Helsinki.
And of course, one of the solutions that Lab ICT offers is focused on the European market. It is a solution that allows the measurement of the carbon footprint incorporated in construction materials.
"When you build a building, all these materials have a carbon footprint and, therefore, in advance, at an early stage, we can make measurements of a building that is likely to last 50 years, and 50 years will have an impact on the city where it is located or on the territory. Therefore, that's where you can make the largest contribution to reducing the carbon footprint. And in Europe there is a great interest in this, in fact they have advanced goals, which in Chile is for 2030, here in many European countries, it is to generate a great reduction of carbon footprint by making a change in the production matrix," Vicentelo explained.
The Last Mile Logistics Challenge Exists Everywhere
"We help brands become more efficient while generating social impact," says Arturo Quiroz, co-founder and CEO of Wareclouds. This defines one of the main objectives of the Chilean startup, one of the five selected that was present at Slush 2023.
"In fact, about 40% of the credentials are founders, 35% are investors, and the rest are extra guests, unlike perhaps a Web Summit, which is much broader and less specific for founders in particular," he added.
In addition to highlighting the type of attendee at Slush, Quiroz explained that one of the goals of their participation in Slush 2023 was to meet and connect with European investors. "It made a lot of sense for us to come and perhaps get to know investors with whom we haven't had much interaction".
"Creating relationships with people who care about the environment, waste management and the circular economy"
We also spoke with Nicolas Vean, CEO and co-founder of Resylink, a Chilean ClimaTech that helps companies reduce their environmental impact through waste management, and transition towards a culture of circular economy.
"We provide SaaS services, which stands for Software as a Service, from a management platform that also features a marketplace of management solution providers who can assist you in recycling glass, cardboard, iron, wood, pallets, or whatever else exists in the market. Our job is to connect the dots. We've named our service Resylink because it's the link to recycling, and that's where the idea originated," Vean commented during his visit to Slush 2023 at Entreprenerd.
See also told us that they had received investment from a Norwegian fund, which motivated them to apply to be part of the Chilean delegation present at Slush in 2023.
