WHAT IS UNICOM?
The UNICOM (Uniting Companies and International University Talents) project is a collaboration between the University of Turku, ร bo Akademi and Turku Science Park Ltd., aiming to connect local companies with international university talent in Turku, particularly PhD and postdoctoral researchers.
The primary goal of UNICOM is to address the shortage of skilled professionals in key fields such as robotics, automation, electric transportation, battery technology, diagnostics, life sciences, and ICT, including artificial intelligence and cloud services. The project facilitates industrial placements for international researchers, providing them with practical experience and offering fresh insights to local companies.
Additionally, UNICOM provides self-study materials and support services for international talent, helping them integrate into the Finnish job market. The project is part of the Talent Boost program, coordinated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Finland.
UNICOM highlights the importance of leveraging international talent to drive innovation and growth in the region, strengthening Southwest Finlandโs competitiveness in the global market.
