Chilean startup is recruited by Bahamas alongside Oxford, Columbia and Harvard to offer free online classes

The Chilean startup will be part of Upskill Bahamas, where it will offer free technological training to the inhabitants of the Caribbean island in areas such as web development, AI and data analysis.

Skillnest, the largest digital skills academy in Latin America, has been selected to be part of the Upskill Bahamas program, an initiative of the Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training of the Caribbean country that offers its inhabitants free access to over 40 online courses that will be provided by internationally prestigious universities and training centers.

The Chilean startup will thus join a select group of universities, such as Harvard, Oxford, and Columbia, in addition to the bootcamp Le Wagon and 4Geeks Academy, which will provide 8,000 flexible courses aimed at individuals over 16 years old, who can complete them at their own pace, at any time and from any place in the archipelago, composed of more than 700 islands.

The courses are completely free and cover a broad range of skills and sectors, such as technology, health, hospitality, business, education, and entrepreneurship, among others, which can be taken by students, professionals looking to broaden their skills, or people who simply want to learn something new. The only requirement is having internet access through a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

In the case of technology-focused courses, where Skillnest will participate, subjects encompass topics such as Artificial Intelligence, web development and data analysis, including an AI course aimed at teachers that caught the special attention of the Bahamas Ministry of Education, which requested 200 slots for its own teams.

"Upskill Bahamas aims to connect Bahamians with new learning opportunities and create an inclusive, technological nation where every citizen has the opportunity to learn, grow, and prosper. We are very proud to be part of this initiative in which, as we are doing in six other countries, students will attend top-level courses, on their schedule and at no cost, improving their job prospects and hence their quality of life," said the CEO of Skillnest, Sebastian Espinosa.
