Concón Sustainable Turistech: Innovation and collaboration for a sustainable future

The seminar Innovation and Sustainability for the Gastronomic, Hotel and Tourism Value Chain of Concón marked the beginning of the technological dissemination project Concón Sustainable Turistech.

The seminar “Innovation and Sustainability for the Gastronomic, Hotel and Tourism Value Chain of Concón” marked the beginning of the technological dissemination project “Concón Sustainable Turistech”.

This program is a significant step towards sustainability in the region’s tourism industry. Among the authorities present at the event held at the Restaurant La Perla del Pacífico, were the Seremi of Economy, Marcelo Arredondo and the Director of Corfo Valparaíso, Etienne Choupay.

Meanwhile, attendees had the opportunity to listen to the testimonies of the startup BlueOakCorp, with Patricia Fuentes, CEO and founder together with Rodrigo López, alternate director, where both outlined the goals and expectations of the “Concón Turistech Sostenible” program.

For her part, Verónica Baquedano, Regional Coordinator, highlighted the importance of the Agency for Sustainability and Climate Change in the creation of sustainable practices, and Mark Minneboo, founder of PlasticOceans offered a critical perspective on the implementation of the circular economy in the industry, as well as introducing the recent plastics law and how it affects the gastronomic chain, and Solange Brevis from the College of Food Engineers of Chile shared her vision on sustainable food in tourism.

At the end of the Seminar “Innovation and Sustainability for the Gastronomic, Hotel and Tourism Value Chain of Concón”, various figures of the ecosystem and authorities gave their vision, pointing out the goals and challenges to be faced.

Marcelo Arredondo, Seremi of Economy, Development and Tourism in the Valparaíso region, stressed the importance of addressing climate change and waste reuse, highlighting the project as a model of associativity between universities, entrepreneurs, the State and the community.

Etienne Choupay, Regional Director of Corfo Valparaíso, emphasized that the main purpose of the program is to address technological and knowledge gaps, aiming at the sustainable development of the tourism sector of Concón. He recognized the initiative as an opportunity for learning and collective enrichment for SMEs in the area.

Patricia Fuentes Bórquez, founder and CEO of BlueOakCorp, expressed excitement as she presented this program that will strengthen the capacity for innovation and technological development.

CONCÓN TURISTECH DEMODAY PROGRAM

The program will include training and certifications in carbon footprint, energy management and business management, underlining the public-private collaboration in the “Concón Turistech Demoday” activity, in addition to support in the commercial management and marketing of the beneficiaries.

Finally, Alejandra Muñoz, president of the Territorial Economic Development Corporation of the Coastal Edge, valued the project as a contributor to global change and sustainable development, highlighting the collaboration between the community, institutions and companies in the sector.

The positive reception and the participants’ commitment to sustainability are indicative that Concón’s tourism industry is on the path to an innovative and environmentally friendly transformation.

This seminar has not only served as a platform for dissemination and transfer, but also as a source of inspiration for industry actors to adopt sustainable practices that benefit both their communities and the planet, strengthening the regional ecosystem with innovation and new management tools.
