Helsinki Incubators opens call for applications for its Journey 2026 program

Apply to the entrepreneurship program designed to support projects in social impact, deep tech, AI, sustainability, and more. Apply before February 8, 2026.

The University of Helsinki has officially opened applications for Journeys, its four-month incubator programme designed to help early-stage innovators transform ideas into high-impact ventures. Running from 23 February to 10 June, the programme supports participants in developing, testing, and validating concepts that may evolve into startups, organisations, or new forms of social and technological innovation.

Journeys is tailored for individuals who "have an idea that won’t leave them alone," offering a structured pathway to turn early insights into viable solutions. The call for applications is open from 9 December to 8 February.

Mentorship at the Core of the Programme

A defining element of Journeys is its mentor-driven approach. Backed by years of experience supporting hundreds of startup teams from MVP to market, the programme brings together:

  • Expert-led lectures and workshops on product development and entrepreneurial skills

  • Networking opportunities and hands-on guidance from leaders who share both their successes and failures

The incubator emphasises practical learning, real-world testing, and continuous iteration—ensuring participants can refine ideas with tangible market insight.

Open Call for Applications

This call is open to all business and technology-related ideas, services, solutions, and products that align with one of the following tracks:

  • AI & Deep Tech: For ventures built on advanced technologies grounded in science, covering general use of artificial intelligence as well as machine learning, robotics, quantum computing, semiconductors, advanced materials, and synthetic biology.
  • Sustainability & Nature: For ventures focused on creating a more sustainable future. It covers a range of fields, from Agritech and Biomaterials to Blue Tech (clean sea innovations), Clean Energy, Food Tech, Low-carbon Innovations, and Nature Tech (nature-based solutions).
  • Social Impact: For the profit-for-purpose ventures creating positive change in society, addressing Sustainable Development Goals. Covering a range of solutions in areas such as well-being, equality, inclusion, immigration, education, and elder care.

Designed for anyone ready to start building

Throughout the spring, participants will work alongside mentors, peers, and the incubator team to develop their ideas step by step. Whether or not applicants come from a startup background, the programme welcomes anyone motivated to make an impact.

To help potential applicants understand the incubator’s expectations and opportunities, Journeys will host three info sessions:

  • 18 December, 12:00-13:00 at Porthania
  • 15 January, 12:00-13:00 at Porthania
  • 20 January, 12:00-13:00 online
