Reccupera: The startup that wants to take the pain out of collections for companies

Reccupera is a software (SaaS) that automates and facilitates collection in an intelligent way between companies, recently integrated an AI bot, to improve collection.

One of the biggest headaches for companies is collections. That payments fall in the appropriate period is always a roller coaster, especially for the entrepreneurial and startup world, which often does not have backs that can cover the delay or non-payment for their services and/or products.

If the collection is not efficient, this new business may end up closing its doors because it does not have a cash flow that relieves it from the payment of taxes, salaries and social laws of its collaborators.

It is in this context, and after one of its founders, experienced in “his own flesh” the problems in collection, that together with a university classmate, they came together to give life to Reccupera, a software (SaaS) that automates and facilitates collection in an intelligent way between companies, being a purely B2B product.

Entreprenerd spoke with Gabriel Pérez, CTO and one of the two founders of the startup about how they are currently outlining a promising future, in search of expansion outside of Chile.

A BIT OF HISTORY

“We met in the first year of college,” Gabriel says of how the path that crossed him with Catalina Vega, his partner and co-founder of Reccupera, came about. “We became friends but not that close. Over time, we realized that we both wanted to be entrepreneurs.”

While Gabriel was selling oversized sweatshirts, Catalina was selling several different things at the U. “That led us to know that we were eventually going to be partners,” Gabriel recalls.

Catalina Vega, CEO and Co-founder of Reccupera and Gabriel Pérez, CTO and Co-founder of Reccupera.

“We always had an affinity with technology, we were both working while we were studying, while I was in the programming part, Catalina was more linked to Venture Capital and data analysis,” says the Co-founder of Reccupera.

And it was during the pandemic when both students came together to give life to YoTeAyudo , a social aid platform where, through georeferencing, they brought together people who could deliver help to those who needed it.

After that, they created “Conscious Quarantine”, an App that tracked possible close contacts, however, this application did not manage to go to market, due to the restrictions of the Google and Apple stores regarding apps related to COVID-19 due to data privacy.

After the end of the restrictions of the pandemic, these young entrepreneurs created “Carreteando App”, an application to buy at events.

After these three business attempts, they finally came to the creation of Reccupera, having a more sustainable model over time, which made both quit their respective jobs to “jump straight into the pool of entrepreneurship” by entering the 6th. Generation of StartupChile (Big 6).

THE MVP’S MOVE TO CONSOLIDATE THE MODEL

This is how these two Industrial Civil Engineers from the Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI), have today transformed Reccupera (initially known as Payscript) into a bustling startup.

” We’re a collection SaaS, We have automatic and massive collection, with various payment options such as gateways, omnichannel reminders centralizing all collection management in one place; real-time reporting and personalized communication for their customers along with a new feature that is an AI bot that will be your best collection advisor and that will come to light in the coming weeks,” explains Gabriel Pérez.

One of the experiences that Gabriel highlights in this entrepreneurial path was with his first client. “When we had our first client, all the usability and value proposition hypotheses fell apart. I think that moment when your idea meets reality is magical and it was what we knew was going to happen, but it still feels like a big step. The interesting thing is to learn from this and quickly evolve your product,” he says.

Another of the milestones highlighted by the CTO of Reccupera is their time at the Internship at Bayes University, where they were selected in a program (similar to the Capstone at PUC) where students from that university in England helped them with the commercial and sales part. “This has already begun to take effect in March and we hope that in the coming months the difference will be even more marked,” explains the young entrepreneur.

Gabriel also highlights the recognition of “Female Impact”, which it received from StartupChile, Catalina Vega, CEO of Reccupera, who also and due to his love for technology manages an Instagram account where he publishes news about technology in simple language, to bring those people who are not so much in this field closer. The account is called @databycata .

A LONG FUTURE

Although in our country there are already some players dedicated to the world of collection for SMEs, companies and startups, such as Duemint and Bemmbo; and at the international level Moonflow, the latter -according to the CTO of Reccupera- has a weaker location in Chile than the previously named players, however, they see it as an actor that is constantly adding innovation.

And in the face of the main competitors, Reccupera sees its strengths in what they offer: “alternative communication channels such as Whatsapp and SMS, all unified in an omnichannel. We also have a “copilot” which is an AI that helps to ask and carry out certain collection actions in a very user-friendly way (using natural language),” says Gabriel Pérez.

Meanwhile, its plans for 2024 are to continue innovating in collection and its surrounding areas. “We believe that our software has enormous potential and that by always having the invoice at the center, we can generate a lot of value for companies and branch out many functionalities.”

Today, its clients include: Repartes, Urvan, SoyMomo and Etnia, among others, and the list will continue to advance in 2024. That’s Reccupera’s bet.
