Startup Leverages AI to Improve Risky Behaviors in Industries

The platform developed by Pignus decreases unsafe worker behavior by combining virtual reality, AI, and psychology.

Recently, the Committee of Government Ministers gave its approval to the updated National Occupational Safety and Health Policy for the period 2024-2028, a measure that reinforces the importance of operational safety and the constant challenge faced by all industries in this area.

In this context, from the startup world, the development of new technologies that contribute in this direction are highly valued by the main productive sectors, such as agronomy, transport, construction and, of course, mining.

An example of this is the startup Pignus, which offers a security solution, but with a different focus: influencing employee behavior.

“Through our ‘Rehaviour’ platform, we provide companies with a tool that is capable of detecting and reducing unsafe worker behavior, combining virtual reality, artificial intelligence and psychology. It is implemented directly in the facilities of organizations, providing instant reports, to optimize the development of competencies that influence safety and productivity,” says Felipe Sanhueza, CEO of Pignus.

In the same vein, the founder of the startup adds: “This solution has been widely accepted in the mining industry, considering that, in just 30 minutes, there is a behavioral evaluation to be able to generate action plans that allow safer people, and all directly executed at the site with or without an internet connection. which is important for this sector, where you work with a lot of machinery.”

Momentum from the North

An important ally in the success of the startup, according to the executive, has been the support provided by Aster, an accelerator based in Antofagasta that provides acceleration programs with an extensive network of companies.

“The accelerator continues to be important in our development as a startup during 2023, thanks to the constant visibility it gives us and the important network of experts available, in case we need support on any topic related to the success of the startup,” says Felipe Sanhueza.

During 2023, the startup managed to stand out significantly in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, achieving important milestones, such as being included in the prestigious list of the 100 most outstanding startups in Chile, prepared by Forbes and Rockstart. In addition, it consolidated its presence by joining the Contech Map in Chile and throughout Latin America, positioning itself as a benchmark in the convergence of construction and technology, while, at the international level, they were selected in the program “Startup Peru Plug by Proinnovate”, expanding its reach and recognition at the regional level, with Peru being the first place.

“Last year we were able to generate key collaborations with leaders in the energy sector such as Equans and Transelec. In 2024 we want to continue the consolidation at the national level in different industries, boosting our presence in the Peruvian market. We will also be launching new features of our product, with a driver-focused version. In addition, we hope to raise capital, for which we are working,” says the CEO of Pignus.
