In the European context, Italy is one of the fastest-growing VC-startup ecosystems. Not only has it significantly narrowed the gap with other countries, but it has also tripled its number of unicorns in just two years.

Recent data from the Observatory on Venture Capital in Italy, conducted by Growth Capital in collaboration with the Italian Tech Alliance, reveals that 2024 has begun on a positive note.

The first quarter saw investments of 443 million euros, compared to 389 million euros in the fourth quarter of 2023, while investment rounds increased from 88 to 108, setting a new record in Italian VC and confirming a clear reversal of the trend from 2023.

GREAT SPEAKERS 2024

Italian Tech Week thus finds itself in a context of renewed activity, with the goal of further accelerating this significant growth by fostering the exchange of ideas and the creation of fruitful transnational synergies.

The tech conference will feature a lineup of speakers that includes some of the most prominent VCs nationally and internationally, such as Doug Leone from Sequoia Capital, Jeannette zu FĂĽrstenberg, MG and Head of Europe at General Catalyst and founding partner of La Famiglia VC, Diego Piacentini, Chairman of Vento, Sandeep Bakshi, Head of Investments Europe at Prosus Ventures, Noam Ohana, Managing Director of Exor Ventures, Raluca Ragab, Managing Director of Eurazeo Growth Fund, and Mike Volpi, Partner at Index Ventures.

AI IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Artificial Intelligence, particularly Generative AI, the most talked-about technology of the moment, will undoubtedly be the main focus of the 2024 edition. A dedicated session on AI will be held on the second day of the event, Thursday, September 26, kicked off by an in-person speech by Sam Altman, Co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, in conversation with John Elkann, CEO of Exor and Chairman of Stellantis & Ferrari.

  • Networking made easy with a dedicated App

Networking opportunities will abound, thanks to the event’s new App with an integrated matchmaking system, enabling participants to connect with those who align with their interests.

  • Beyond the conference: Turin comes alive with Tech Communities

The OGR Torino, a hub for innovation and contemporary culture, has been confirmed as the ideal venue for the event for the fifth consecutive year. However, Italian Tech Week will extend its reach throughout the city of Turin with collateral events organized independently by the main Italian tech communities.

There will be many “Side Events,” including aperitifs, races, and workouts at the Valentino Park, thematic breakfasts, and exclusive moments of conviviality that will offer participants further opportunities to socialize and have fun.

This immersive experience will showcase the beauty of the Piemontese capital, cementing Turin’s position as the go-to Italian destination for the international tech sector.

To ensure you don’t miss the opportunity to participate in Italian Tech Week, you can fill out the pre-registration form available here to ensure you are notified first when official registrations open in July. The event is free.
