Second International Call LAB+ Company Builder: Seeking innovative scientific projects and start-ups
The startups selected in this new call from LAB+ will receive funding of up to US $750,000 and strategic advice.
LAB+ opened its second international call for life science projects, a Uruguayan initiative that boosts scientific and technological startups, and helps them become world-class companies.
LAB+ Company Builder, is an initiative of the Institut Pasteur of Montevideo (IP Montevideo) and Ficus Advisory for scientists who have an original, disruptive, and innovative project with significant commercial potential and plausible for patenting.
The selected startups in this new call will receive seed-stage funding (up to US$ 750,000); inclusion in a top-tier scientific ecosystem; access to international business, strategy, innovation, business development, administrative-accounting operations, and intellectual property management expertise; laboratory facilities (30 m虏) and access to infrastructure.
APPLICATION
The proposals received will be accepted until September 15, 2024 at the following link bit.ly/labpluscall and will be evaluated based on the level of innovation of their technology and their scientific foundations, the feasibility of their objectives; the definition of the problem addressed and market potential; comprehensive understanding of the current state of the art in intellectual property; the motivation and scientific trajectory of the applicants and the commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration to create and develop a science-based startup.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
The received proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
1. Highly innovative technology with solid scientific foundations.
2. Well-defined, feasible, and achievable objectives for the project period.
3. Clear definition of the addressed market problem and analysis of market potential.
4. Comprehensive understanding of the current state of the art in intellectual property.
5. Motivated teams with outstanding scientific backgrounds and a strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration to create and develop a science-based start-up.
With this new initiative called LAB+, it advances in its objective of promoting quality science that generates world-class companies, proposes solutions for societal problems, and supports a knowledge-based economy.
Since its inception, LAB+ already has a portfolio of four companies: B4RNA, Guska, LoCBio and Scaffold Biotech. Each one seeks solutions for different human and animal health problems: from cancer diagnosis and treatment to a vaccine against cattle tick infestations.
