CES 2025: LG and Ambarella boost AI-Based in-car cabin solutions
LG will be setting a new precedent in precision and reliability for car cabin solutions with the driver monitoring system powered by Ambarella, whose demonstration is scheduled for CES 2025.
LG Electronics (LG) and Ambarella, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMBA), a leading AI semiconductor company, announced that LG will showcase its latest in-cabin solution, developed in collaboration with Ambarella, during CES 2025.
Ambarella has worked closely with LG to integrate its CV25 AI System on a Chip (SoC) into LG's driver monitoring system (DMS), which enables car manufacturers to offer safer vehicles. This DMS is already in production with a global automotive OEM.
With industry-leading AI performance per watt, Ambarella's CV25 chipset enables LG's DMS to perform real-time analysis of high-resolution video from cameras installed in vehicles. In addition to accurate object recognition, this AI SoC supports smooth processing of high-definition video and achieves high energy efficiency, making it ideal for integration with various sensors built into the vehicle.
The CV25, manufactured with 10-nanometer process technology, also facilitates the capture of high-quality detailed images in low light and high dynamic range, ensuring stable monitoring regardless of the environment, weather or time of day.

Leveraging LG's VisionWare, a key piece of the company's AlphaWare mobility software portfolio, this new DMS can accurately detect subtle movements of the driver's eyes and head. The system uses AI to determine whether the driver is distracted or drowsy based on these movements.
Equipped with the CV25, the DMS can recognize these signals regardless of the driver's race, sex, or age, and provides accurate detection and analysis even if the driver is wearing sunglasses, a hat, or other accessories.
LG's DMS solution is designed to adapt perfectly to various software and hardware configurations, offering automotive original equipment manufacturers considerable flexibility when developing new vehicle models.
This flexibility extends to other LG cabin solutions based on Ambarella, such as its interior monitoring system and driver monitoring system. Moreover, LG is committed to expanding its partnership with Ambarella, as part of their efforts to continuously improve the performance of LG's wide range of solutions for car interiors, taking the mobility experience to new heights.
LG and Ambarella are committed to improving vehicle safety and plan to continue collaborating and offering solutions that allow original equipment manufacturers to comply with the standards of the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) and the General Safety Regulation (GSR). In addition, LG is an active partner in Ambarella's innovation ecosystem, contributing its considerable experience and knowledge to this network of industry leaders in AI-based perception, fusion, and planning for automotive systems.
"The combination of LG's high-precision, reliable solutions for the vehicle interior with the leading watt-per-AI performance of our CVflow® SoCs allows automotive original equipment manufacturers to achieve the highest levels of vehicle safety," says Fermi Wang, President and CEO of Ambarella.
"Our CV25 SoC combines high performance to process LG's AI perception stack, along with great efficiency for low power consumption and reduced thermal management, resulting in compact and flexible form factors for the interior of vehicles," added Wang.
"Our collaboration with Ambarella represents a significant step forward in the use of AI-driven technology to advance vehicle safety," said Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG Vehicle Solution Company.
"By combining LG's experience in cabin monitoring with Ambarella's cutting-edge AI chipset, we are setting a new standard for in-cabin solutions and actively improving road safety," emphasized Seok-hyun.
