Google.Org opens global call for AI projects for Science and Government Innovation

AI not only helps people solve problems faster, but also opens new possibilities for discovery and scalability.

To support organizations that are at the forefront of scientific discovery and capitalize on the inaugural AI for Science fund, Google.org launched a new global open call: the Google.org Impact Challenge: AI for Science with 30 million USD.

This new initiative provides funding and technical expertise to aid researchers, non-profit organizations, and social enterprises in achieving significant advances (Nobel level). We specifically seek projects in Health and Life Sciences, Climate Resilience, and Environmental Sciences.

In addition to funding, the selected organizations will have the opportunity to participate in a Google.org Accelerator, where they will receive engineering support, technical mentoring, and the infrastructure of Google to scale their solutions.

"We are seeking the next generation of scientific discoveries," indicated the internet giant.

AI for Government Innovation

The adoption of AI by governments is not just a technical upgrade, but a way to solve real-world challenges and generate social impact within communities.

However, new data reveals that, while 80% of public officials claim that AI empowers them, only 18% believe that their governments are currently using AI effectively.

To help close the gap between promise and practice, Google.org will launch the Google.org Impact Challenge: AI for Government Innovation, which has a budget of 30 million USD.

This is a global call for non-profit organizations, social enterprises, and academic institutions to present bold proposals of AI-powered solutions in areas such as health, resilience, and economy.

The selected organizations will receive funding and participate in a Google.org Accelerator, where they will receive engineering assistance, technical mentorship and Google's infrastructure to scale their solutions.

The applications are open until April 3, 2026.
