The Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Claudio Araya, pointed out that, “President Boric ordered us to reach the entire national territory where people live with an offer of telecommunications services, that is, that no one is left out because they have no way to connect to the digital society. And we have been fulfilling that task.”
He added that, “Proof of this is the deployment of infrastructure projects, such as the 5G network throughout the national territory and the operability of different connection points of the National Fiber Optic project. But we also see with these figures, that people are accessing high-standard connectivity and in those areas that are geographically complex to reach, satellite solutions are allowing us to integrate the entire national territory into the digital world.”
He also added “with the approval of the Internet as a Public Service project, which enables the subsidy to demand and where companies must deliver service throughout the concession area, we expect the number of users connected to fixed networks to increase, since our challenge as a State is that the digital divides are getting closer and closer to their minimum expression.”
