Innova Region Program: Corfo opens call for startups with a focus on sustainability

We are looking for projects with solutions to water, energy and sustainable production challenges in order to impact local economies.

According to the survey “Adaptation and Mitigation of Climate Change in Chilean Companies” -presented by Corfo in 2023- almost half of the participating MSMEs said they had taken actions to adapt to the impacts of global warming, either in the reduction of emissions (51.7%), energy efficiency (54.1%) and water use (45.6%).

To call on more companies to develop innovative projects linked to environmental sustainability throughout the country, Corfo opened a new national call for its program Innova Region , a call that, this time, will support solutions that impact local economies and are linked to water, energy and sustainable production challenges.

Innova Región with a focus on Sustainability offers a subsidy of up to $60 million for companies to take a leap with their innovations, from their prototype phase to their technical validation at a productive and/or commercial scale.

In addition, as part of its gender strategy, Corfo will allocate up to an additional 10% of co-financing for those initiatives of companies led by women; and an extra 5% will also be awarded in the score -at the time of evaluation- to the nominated projects whose beneficiaries are certified with the 40 Hours Seal, granted by the Ministry of Labor.

All the requirements and details of this call are available on the Corfo website, the same site where companies can apply until 5:00 p.m. on May 23. For more information or queries, please contact: [email protected]

“At Corfo we have the challenge of addressing the missions of fair decarbonization and resilience to the climate crisis, within the framework of the Sustainable Productive Development Program (DPS). And these instruments, such as Innova Region, are a call to action to support companies throughout the country that want to develop innovation projects to advance in the adoption of climate change adaptation and mitigation measures associated with the reality of their territories, because the future is sustainable,” said Corfo’s Innovation Manager. Jocelyn Olivari.

“Given the territorial focus of this call, we see in this call an opportunity to address the productivity and competitiveness gaps in the regions through the development of innovative solutions relevant to their needs and challenges, while contributing to installing a new paradigm of productive development where sustainability and innovation go hand in hand and are installed as fundamental axes of Chile’s productive transformation,” Olivari added.

From 2022 to date, Corfo’s Innovation Management has supported 169 Chilean companies, whose innovation projects had a sustainable focus, for an amount close to $7,000 million.
