Platform Launched to Help Chilean Teachers Foster STEM Skills in the Classroom
The new digital platform Solve For Tomorrow Latam brings together teaching materials to support Project-Based Learning.
Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow Latam digital platform is now operational, a space to recognize and value teachers in Chile and Latin America in STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). As the main differentiator, the page offers a wide repertoire of pedagogical references created by teachers for teachers in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
Since 2014, Samsung has been carrying out the “Solve for Tomorrow” initiative in Chile to strengthen young people’s interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in addressing and solving local challenges that affect their communities. The program is present in 20 countries and has already engaged more than 312,000 teachers and students in the region in problem-solving strategies and critical and creative thinking. In Chile, they have impacted more than 10,000 students and 1,600 teachers.
In that context, the new platform was designed for education professionals to play the role of knowledge mediators, experimenting in practice with the curriculum of different areas and systemically understanding the local challenges of their communities.

“As a space for the valorization of STEM teachers, the content available aims to support Project-Based Learning and provide a didactic basis for pedagogical and training practices for an education connected to the needs of the contemporary world,” says Paulina Troncoso, Head of Marketing and Corporate Citizenship at Samsung Chile.
We live in the Digital Age, where access to information and communication are democratized. The Internet and social networks have transformed the way we interact and learn, making it crucial for education to adapt to this reality through the incorporation of technological tools.
For this reason, the digital platform Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow Latam seeks to empower teachers in Chile and Latin America by providing resources, connectivity to a passionate community, and training in STEM and Design Thinking. Thus, it also seeks to open the way for students to get involved in relevant projects, increasing their motivation and academic results.
“As a teacher I have lived this experience, I have incorporated these strategies in my classes and I can attest to the growth of my students,” says Rogers Méndez, Programming Specialty Teacher and Coordinator of the Innovation model of the Comeduc Foundation.
He comments that thanks to this type of program, a culture of high expectations has been generated in the preparation of young people for the future, who develop skills necessary for the labor market of the 21st century.
“Students are creative, able to think critically, solve problems and express their ideas clearly. This type of initiative makes it possible to improve the quality of education, strengthening the incorporation of STEM in Latin America.”
To commemorate this launch, Samsung will hold a webinar with educators who will participate in the platform on May 8. The online event will address the experiences of these professionals in facilitating the learning process of their students throughout their participation in the program.
